The knitting together of their various bad habits, obsessions and sense of right into a questing fellowship stayed with me long after I finished the series. The notion of a fellowship is a long-standing fantasy trope, spanning through literature and film adaptations across the years....

Google has unveiled the streaming service’s first game development studio in Montréal, and discussed its plans for exclusive first-party content with GamesIndustry.biz. ‘It’s very important for first-party games, in my opinion, to be games that wouldn’t be possible on any other platform,’ Google vice president and Stadia Games and Entertainment studio head Jade Raymond said, before explaining that Stadia’s unique capabilities will generate unique first-party titles. ‘There are a lot of things that being cloud native enables that you’re just not going to be able to see on other platforms, and I think that’s the job of first-party, to really show that off and let people imagine what those things are,’ Raymond added....

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto Online players will be able to hoover up an eye-watering GTA$1.35 million bonus cash prize simply by logging in for the next week. First up, you’ll bag $750 just by logging in right now, and for every day through November 26 will receive an additional $100 for logging in. Sweet, right? Your bonus funds will be delivered to Maze Bank accounts by December 3, so you won’t have to wait too long to get the cash....

A 12-minute gameplay video has been posted on YouTube showing off the progress modders are making on recreating GTA Vice City within the GTA 5 game engine. Swedish YouTuber NTAuthority posted the video, noting that modders have made much faster progress with the GTA 5 mod than with GTA 4. “This is Vice City converted to GTA 5 in such a good way that I am SHOCKED, it took two years for map converts on IV like this yes years,” explained NTAuthority....

In case you’ve missed it, the full PlayStation Network has been down for more than a month, causing nearly $200 million in damages to Sony and countless amounts of grief towards developers and fans alike. While the perpetrators have yet to be detained, they haven’t been silent: members of the hacking group such as LulzSec have been very adamant and vocal over the work he’s accomplished. On his Twitter, LulzSec has made it clear that he and his cohorts aren’t done with Sony, and are preparing to go at the company again… and soon....

The eagerly-anticipated Halo TV show has reportedly set a new premiere viewership record for Paramount+. While it remains to be seen how many of those viewers will stick about after their one month trial expires - Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers were given a month free to celebrate the show’s launch - Deadline reports that the show has “set a new record as the service’s most-watched series premiere globally in its first 24 hours”....

You will first need to activate an emergency beacon at Titled Towers or Coney Crossroads before unlocking this second Week 11 challenge, one of the last before the live Collision event marking the end of this Fortnite season. After finding the fuel cells and returning the backpack, you will clear this challenge and get 23K XP, which will help you collect those final rewards from this Season’s battle pass....

Epic Games has announced the end of its Ukraine humanitarian drive, with Fortnite players raising over $144 million USD. The drive saw all proceeds of Fortnite sales generated from in-game items go towards a number of charities. All of which were supporting humanitarian efforts in the wake of the war in Ukraine. Launching alongside the Chapter 3 Season 2 release, players raised the massive sum in just two weeks for charities like Direct Relief, UNICEF, World Food Programme and more....

The Infinity Blade was introduced to Fortnite in patch 7.01, on December 11th. After just three days, Epic Games has decided to Vault the melee weapon. The company explained why in a tweet. The Infinity Blade was an interesting weapon, as it granted the user an extra 100 health and shield. It does a large amount of damage, and enables the player to leap long distances. It could only be found at Polar Peak, and only one Blade was featured per match....

Professional Fortnite player Kyle Giersdorf, also known as “Bugha,” won the Fortnite World Cup just last month, earning $3 million in the process. Unfortunately, Bugha’s fame has seen him become a target, as he was the victim of swatting in a recent stream.
