It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything concrete about Grand Theft Auto 6. But thanks to word from Rockstar Games insiders, we may finally have some solid information. According to a report from Bloomberg, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release date is “two years away,” and it will feature a change in “creative direction” following changes at the studio. The behind-the-scenes changes at Rockstar Games seem to have affected the studio’s approach to the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series....

The survival game Grounded has proven to be a hit since it launched last year. Over the first year of Grounded, players have been crafting with new building parts, discovering new bugs, and tackling the Koi pond. Daybreak Games has announced that undead-dismembering battle royale title H1Z1 has notched up 1.5 million players during the game’s Open Beta on PlayStation 4. While it’s free to download, it’s still pretty impressive considering the beta only launched just two days ago. Unfortunately, H1Z1’s PS4 taster was dogged by numerous issues, including problems with logging in and users being unable to purchase items. Daybreak is on the case however, so hopefully a fix should be here soon....

Yesterday, a trailer teased the PC launch of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. We figured it was only a matter of time before it was made official. Oh, and that time is now, actually. Developer 343 Industries announced moments ago that Halo: CEA is available on PC, joining its Halo: Reach brethren. Halo: CEA is the same game that launched on Xbox 360 back in 2011, only better. Because it’s on PC now....

343 Industries has confirmed that the next major update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now available to download, adding Xbox One X support among other much-anticipated features. The patch is a pretty meaty affair, weighing in at ~73GB, although to be fair it does come with more than just a 4K facelift. Improved matchmaking is also a major new addition, which was one of the many areas that weren’t up to scratch at launch back in 2014....

Halo’s Xbox 360 servers are now offline. “Online services for legacy Halo Xbox 360 titles have been discontinued,” confirmed a tweet from the Twitter account Halo Support just before the weekend. “The affected games will remain playable indefinitely, but some experiences will be impacted.” Affected games include Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Spartan Assault, and Halo Wars - although only the 360 versions - and while the games can still be played, “online services such as challenges and file share are no longer available”....

Over the course of the past decade or so, the video game industry’s focus has shifted online. Games used to be as simple as turning on your console, putting in a disc or a cartridge, and playing that game from beginning to end. There was a multiplayer option on most titles, but that second player had to be sitting right beside you in order to play. That caveat is no longer needed....

High On Life creator Justin Roiland has revealed the game features AI-generated art and voice acting. The topic of AI generation has increasingly become a hot discussion, with arguments arising over its use and the implications it has ethically, artistically, and technologically. In an interview with Sky News, Roiland talked about the use of AI in the development of High On Life. Roiland stated most of the art was hand-drawn, but the team used Midjourney AI to create some images to make the in-game world “feel like a strange alternative universe”....

Fortnite is being sued over yet another emote. This time it’s the “Phone It In” action at the center of the latest lawsuit. There are some phenomena that become so big, no matter what life throws at them they just cannot be stopped. Fortnite seems to be the latest to join that club. Four new tracks have been confirmed for Project CARS, the upcoming racer from Slightly Mad Studios and Bandai Namco. The new tracks include: Sonoma Raceway Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) is a hilly road course and drag strip located in California. At the Game Developers Conference 2010, a certain Unreal Engine tech demo was leaked that will interest all Gears of War fans: a 42 second clip potentially from Gears of War 3, or at least showing off its new graphics engine. The header image comes straight from the new Unreal engine that Epic Games is working with. The Gfinity Arena, the UK’s first dedicated eSports arena, is to open in March for the launch of the Gfinity Championships. The arena will be created by transforming part of the Vue Fulham Broadway multiplex into a dedicated 600 person capacity eSports venue, and allow the company to host eSports events every weekend and on selected weekday evenings. The venue will feature a player lounge for up to 50 gamers, a ticketing hall, automated ticket machines and confectionery stall....

The rather decadent gold New Nintendo 3DS XL Hyrule Edition will launch in the UK on March 24, alongside Hyrule Warriors: Legends, a 3DS version of the well received Wii U action game.
