Epic Games has announced that the finale live event for Fortnite’s currently ongoing Marvel-themed Nexus War season will take place on December 1. Though details are currently scarce, for obvious reasons, it has been confirmed that the event will see all players joining forces to take on the world-eating Marvel villain Galactus, who’ll be showing up at that time for a fight that promises will have “the fate of Reality” in the balance....
UPDATE: Turn 10 has confirmed that Xbox Live Gold members will be able to play Forza Motorsport 6 for free this weekend. The event runs from today through to Sunday, August 28, and offers the full game up in its entirety. EA Sports has confirmed it will be rolling out a free World Cup update for FIFA 18 next month for PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One. Players will be able to have a kickabout from the group stages all the way up to Moscow’s final, while soaking up a bunch of officially-licensed content including badges, kit, stadiums, teams, plus of course the official match ball and trophy. Online friendlies and online tournament modes are also up for grabs, and you can make your own customised World Cup using all available national teams....
Sony has confirmed that trophy support for older PlayStation titles on the new PlayStation Plus will be optional for developers. The confirmation came in a new PlayStation Blog post to mark the launch of the upgraded service in Asia. As the service launched, players found several other classic PlayStation games now had trophies. These include Ape Escape, Hot Shots Golf and IQ: Intelligent Qube. Syphon Filter developer Bend Studio confirmed earlier this week that its title would also include brand new trophies....

Homeworld is going to become a tabletop RPG thanks to Gearbox licensing out the franchise. Earlier this year at PAX West, we found out that Gearbox had big plans for Homeworld, the 1999 3D space RTS game. Homeworld 3 was announced to be in development from Blackbird Interactive, the makers of the Homeworld prequel Deserts of Kharak. In addition, Homeworld Mobile was also revealed, although we had far less info on that offering and the teaser made it seem like just a port of the original PC game....

Bandai Namco Games has that announced the next chapter in its post-apocalyptic hunt-’em-up series God Eater is heading to PlayStation 4 and PC. The company previously revealed that the title was in the works, but didn’t specify any platforms at the time. The news was confirmed during a special live stream event to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the franchise, which launched for PlayStation Portable back in 2010. Developer 343 Industries has been steadily working on Halo Infinite since its launch, addressing many of the concerns levied by players. However, the work is far from over. Fans have decried issues revolving around its multiplayer for some months now. However, the team is implementing more changes. Today, Halo Infinite latency should be better, and fixes for issues surrounding ‘desync’ and shot/melee registration are next. Richard Watson, the sandbox lead engineer for 343, outlined the aforementioned problems in a Halo Waypoint post today....
Developer 343 Industries has announced that Halo insiders will be able to test out the online portion of Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op next month. The official launch of the online cooperative campaign mode is coming sometime in August. But, much like with many other online features, the developer wants to test it with players before the full release. As announced on the Halo Twitter account, registered insiders will be able to participate in the testing of the online campaign co-op....
343 Industries has offered up another update on Halo Infinite‘s multiplayer, this time focusing on the competitive and ranked side. In the video, host Andy ‘Bravo’ Dudysnky chats with lead multiplayer designer Andrew Witts and former Halo pro Sal ‘El Town’ Monhanan. They chat about some of the tweaks and specific settings that will be available to competitive and pro players. To that end, the development side worked with the Competitive Insights team to tweak maps for the best competitive experience....
