Bob Iger has revealed that George Lucas wasn’t exactly pleased after selling Star Wars franchise LucasFilm to Disney, especially when he realized his ideas were getting binned. The Disney CEO’s memoir The Ride of a Lifetime is now out and, while the Star Wars creator didn’t have much to say about the trilogy aside of promising fans that they’d enjoy The Force Awakens, he apparently felt slighted by the series taking a different path than he’d plotted....

Director Chad Stahelski has confirmed that his movie adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima will be “a complete Japanese cast, in Japanese”. Speaking to Collider, Stahelski said that while it may “scare the shit out of most people”, Sony is “on board with backing [him] on that” and “Western audiences in general are getting more and more used to [reading subtitles]”. “Honestly, it’s probably the same things that would scare the shit out of most people....

Ghost of Tsushima was finally given another trailer, this time during The Game Awards 2019 in December. The trailer shown off there is the extended version of the trailer initially shown off at PlayStation’s State of Play just two days before. That trailer teased a standoff between protagonist and samurai warrior, Jin Sakai, and a group of Mongol soldiers hauling a cart of goods in the woods. As the Mongol clan of soldiers gave out a warning and then charged, Jin brandished his samurai sword and pulled out what appeared to be a smoke bomb....

A new update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection has added substantial new content to the game. In a detailed post on Halo Waypoint, developer 343 Industries described the full list of changes that players can now experience in Halo: MCC. Chief among these is a new variant on Firefight called Floodfight. For the first time in the series, Halo players can take on waves of Flood in Halo 3: ODST’s Firefight mode....

Developer 343 Industries recently disclosed some new information about the competitive mode in Halo Infinite. The world premiere of Infinite‘s competitive game mode was posted on the official Halo YouTube channel. This first look showcased several aspects of what to expect, including restrictions to spawn weapons and certain HUD options. When spawning in, players will start out with only a Battle Rifle to their name. However, weapon spawns will be available for pick up such as the Mangler pistol and Energy Sword spawns on Recharge....

Back in December, a supposed screenshot of Halo Infinite leaked online, showing a new UI for the game that included a grappling hook. Then 343 Industries released a video called “We Are 343 Industries,” and in that video, fans noticed gameplay that seemed to match the leaked UI in Halo Infinite. While some have taken this as confirmation that the new game will have a grappling hook, 343 Industries franchise development director Frank O’Connor has since provided some clarification....

The repercussions of the UK vote to leave the EU, which was first raised in June of 2016, realistically won’t even make significant changes until it finally takes effect this coming December. Still, there is cause for concern as Brexit brings with it several unknowns. Epic Games dropped a surprise update for Fortnite today featuring new some tweaks to both Save the World and Battle Royale, plus the addition of a new emote and Super Bowl NFL skins. There has not been much public mention of the fixes or the new content yet from Epic Games, but some data miners were able to locate the information on the Fortnite Trello Board. These changes come during a period of outcry from streamers and players for a large update to be made to the game....

Another week, another Fortnite update and the showcase addition this week is a new Burst Submachine Gun added to the battle royale shooter. Firing a quick 4 round burst with a 1.75x headshot multiplyer, it uses light ammo and fires a little faster than the Supressed Submachine Gun which it replaces. Elsewhere, Team Rumble mode now spawns 4 hot spots each match to try and allievate an ongoing issue where some were appearing more for one team than the other....

Many Fortnite fans may be left disappointed, as it has been revealed that Epic’s battle royale will not be making a showing on Valve’s Steam Deck. Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games, was recently asked by Twitter user Stormy178 if there were “any plans to update [Fortnite] to make Proton/Wine be compatible with EAC and BattleEye anti-cheat on Linux?”. To this, Sweeney replied with a swift no. He did, however, reiterate there is a “big effort underway to maximize Easy Anti Cheat compatibility with Steam Deck” (via PC Gamer)....

When gaming was still in its early days, companies had a hard time selling people on the concept of it. However, Nintendo had the idea to sell games based on franchises, characters, and mascots to give their brand familiarity. Needless to say, the strategy worked and the gaming industry has forever followed that model to this day. Nintendo love to build a particular franchise, then create new games in the series that add to the established formula or make a spin-off from it....
