Today Sony revealed that God of War Ragnarok was predictably very successful in its first week on the shelves. As revealed by PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst on Twitter, the game has sold 5.1 million copies as of Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, which marks the end of its first week on the digital and physical shelves (the game was released on Nov. 9). This likely means that the current number is even higher....

In a blog post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries writer Jeff Easterling said that the Halo developer won’t be revealing any new information on a new entry in the series ‘for quite some time.’ Easterling spoke about the illusive Halo 6 that some people were expecting to show up during Microsoft’s big Xbox media briefing at E3, saying that fans should quell their excitement for the time-being. ‘While there’s little to nothing that can be said on that front, it’s been made clear that we won’t be talking about Halo’s next major title for quite some time,’ 343’s Easterling stated to the sound of Master Chief fans’ hearts breaking around the globe....

The publisher, alongside the developers at Cradle Games, have announced the release of a new sequel chapter to the upcoming game. Titled, The Thespian Feast, it’s a standalone adventure that’s available now on Steam, free of charge. Matt Boudreau, creative director for Cradle Games, considers this chapter a special release. Hideo Kojima spoke about the challenges he faced when leaving Konami and setting up Kojima Productions in an interview with Famitsu (thanks to Kotaku for translating it). In 2015, Kojima departed Konami after an alleged dispute and after almost thirty years of working together. All was not lost, however, as Kojima acquired a collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment with his studio Kojima Productions. Fortnite Season X, or Season 10 to any plebeians in the audience, kicked off today and dropped mechs into the mix: a co-op vehicle with devastating abilities. The mechs, formally called B.R.U.T.E.s, can be operated by two players: one moving the machine as its driver, and the other firing off missiles and shotgun shells as its gunner. It’s incredibly agile with Dash and Super Jump abilities, and can Stomp enemies and structures to dust....

Following two years in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, Darwin Project now has a firm release date for January 2020, and this will also include the PlayStation 4. The free-to-play battle royale game boasts some unique features, including class-based combat where ten inmates face off. In addition to controlling an inmate, Darwin Project allows players to take on the role of Show Directly or Spectator, each with different ways of impacting the match....

Valve boss Gabe Newell has responded to criticism following Steam’s introduction of paid for user created mods. In a Reddit AMA, Newell stated that if the changes resulted in a negative result, they will get “dumped”, but was optimistic about the results. “Our goal is to make modding better for the authors and gamers. If something doesn’t help with that, it will get dumped. Right now I’m more optimistic that this will be a win for authors and gamers, but we are always going to be data driven,” Newell posted....

The long winter between the holiday season and GDC in March has begun. To help with the winter wait, however, GDC has decided to share some its award nominations early. The Game Developers Choice Awards won’t have its winners announced until GDC takes place, but the awards jury has already completed its nominations for 2019. The nominations offer a look at what game developers consider the most excellent and innovative games of 2019....
