At today’s PlayStation Showcase 2021, Square Enix revealed more about its upcoming Forspoken game via a new gameplay and story trailer. The new IP will feature a mix of magic-infused combat and swift, dynamic movement perhaps like that we know from Assassin’s Creed, God of War, Sekiro, and such. In addition to sharing more information about the story, characters, and inspiration, a spring 2022 release window was finally announced. Forspoken is about the story of Frey Holland, a young woman who grew up on the streets of New York where she had to learn to persevere....
Forspoken’s launch on PlayStation 5 was rocky from a technical perspective, with uneven visuals and inconsistent performance, so I wondered whether the PC version could be the panacea to all of the woes John touched on in his DF tech review. Epic Games has teased that Drake’s Favourite Video Game (aka Fortnite) will be getting a Light Machine Gun as its next weapon drop for the game’s Battle Royale mode. While the high-speed firearm is currently available in the Save the World version of the popular shooter, it has yet to make its Battle Royale debut. However, an in-game news post confirms that players will soon be able to get their mitts on the weapon, which boast a large magazine and high rate of fire at the cost of a lengthy reload time....
In the recent Fortnite development update from Epic there was a small entry regarding matchmaking improvements. The single sentence indicates that some kind of skill-based matchmaking will be implemented. Epic says, “We are working on changes to matchmaking that are aimed at creating matches with a more balanced distribution of skill”. This has not gone down well with a large portion of the community who think it’s not in the spirit of battle royale....

Epic is living up to its promise of not tolerating cheaters in its recently released free-to-play Battle Royale mode. According to two legal complaints spotted by TorrentFreak this week, the developer has filed two lawsuits accusing two people of using aimbots ‘with the deliberate intention of ruining the game for other players and players who watch streamers’. The interesting thing about this lawsuit is not that the players are being sued for the act of cheating, but that they’re being subject to legal action as a result of copyright infringement....
