God of War had a triumphant return in 2018. The game managed to introduce Norse mythology alongside a compelling journey for protagonist Kratos and his son Atreus. While the dust settles from the violent but compelling return of the series, the director of the game has suggested that a Netflix version of the story would be interesting. There are very few fans who would disagree with this idea, although it doesn’t seem like there are any plans for such a series yet....

Alongside the normal ‘Display Modes’ in God of War Ragnarok that allow you to choose whether the game should prioritize resolution or frame rate over the other, there’s also a ‘High Frame rate Mode’ option sitting just below it in the Settings menu. Google has released a new interactive doodle in celebration of the life of Gerald “Jerry” Lawson, the Black video game engineer who invented the first cartridge-based home video game system. The doodle starts off with a tutorial the gives you a brief introduction to Jerry, before letting you enter an editor which allows you to create your very own retro arcade game. There are also five premade games to give you inspiration, and you use them as a template to edit from (or you can just play them if you’re not feeling creative)....

Tomorrow, October 20, Sony and Polyphony Digital’s popular driving simulator Gran Turismo 7 will receive another of its monthly free updates. The update, which is numbered 1.25 and was teased during the weekend, will bring four new cars to the game’s roster including a classic Italian sports car, and three Japanese icons. These are the Maserati Merak SS ’80, the Mazda Roadster NR-A (ND) ’22, the Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) ’73, and the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ’18....

When Grim Dawn was first announced a couple of years ago, there were some doubts as to how unique and successful it would become. The action-RPG (ARPG) developed by Crate Entertainment reminded players of Diablo, at a time when other ARPGs like Torchlight and Path of Exile were around. And so there were some questions that were raised about how Grim Dawn would prove to be a viable alternative. Years passed and all those expectations were shattered and a new expansion — Forgotten Gods — promises more ways to slay humanity’s enemies....

After two years in early access for PC and Xbox, garden adventure game Grounded has blossomed into a full release - something which developer Obsidian Games has now described as “the complete game” which can now “beat” for the first time. Hades was one of the biggest indie releases of 2020. It was viewed as a masterpiece, an exciting and engaging marriage of rogue-lite action and storytelling. Developer Supermassive Games, however, isn’t quite done with the story. During The Game Awards 2022, the developer revealed Hades II with a gameplay trailer and announced an Early Access launch for 2023. Honestly, the team could have shocked players just with a simple teaser. Instead, fans were treated to a full gameplay trailer, setting up the story and characters coming to Hades II....

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix is the series’ Switch debut, and makes its way to the west in May (via GameSpot). Digital pre-orders are now available, and the game features over 100 songs and 300 costumes for the vocaloid persona, with rhythm gameplay derived from new and old songs. Sega and Crypton Future Media are also offering a Mega Pack for MegaMix, which includes six downloadable packs of six songs. The Mega Pack is $60, whereas the downloadable song packs are priced $7 individually....

Battlefield is as famous for its troubled launches as it is its sandbox multiplayer, but even by its own standards 2042 has been something of a disaster - lumpy, incomplete and with some less than popular decisions along the way such as the expansive maps designed to accommodate the newly expanded 128 player count and the introduction of specialists. DICE at least does have some previous in turning around a shaky ship - Battlefield 4 went from a disastrous launch to become one of the most celebrated in the series - and is making the right noises ahead of the belated launch of Battlefield 2042’s first season next month....

Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima reveals how the development team was able to get those delicious looking cakes into the game. Kojima had teased that Death Stranding would have photorealistic graphics but many fans agreed that the cake looked especially incredible. In a video posted to his official Twitter account, Kojima confirmed that all of the cakes in Death Stranding are handmade. The cakes, which appear if a player plays Death Stranding on their birthday, were made with scans of real cakes which the game’s development team then enjoyed eating....
