Hitman is getting a free Christmas-themed DLC mission next week, IO Interactive has announced. Available from next Tuesday, December 13, the free ‘Holiday Hoarders’ mission takes players back to Paris, which has been decorated with Christmas trees, snow and presents for the festive season, as Agent 47 tracks down two burglars attempting to steal the gifts. Naturally, you’ll get to dress up as Santa Claus. The DLC mission will be available to all Hitman players for free, although IO is asking fans to consider donating whatever they can in support of the World Cancer Research Fund....

Epic Games appears to be preparing for Season 8 of Fortnite, with a number of curious happenings spotted by players in the battle royale title over the past few weeks. Changes in the map are common when transitioning to a new season, and it looks like Fortnite is preparing to wrap up Season 7. For starters, there’s been a number of earthquakes logged, but more recently, cracks in the map have started to pop up all over the place....

Fortnite has today joined Xbox Cloud Gaming, making it the first free-to-play game to do so. This means the ever-popular Epic battle royale will be available to stream via the service on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, plus PCs - all via web browser. As with any Xbox Cloud Gaming title, you’ll need an Xbox account to log-in - but you won’t need membership to any subscription, such as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate....

At last, the downtime comes to an end, and the Fortnite servers are back up. Fortnite 10.40 update just went live, and the new update brings a lot of fresh content to the game. Epic Games shared the patch notes, and so far the most significant additions to the game are improvements in aim sensitivity and matchmaking. Fox n Forests is a retro-platformer kickstarted in July 2016 and released this year. The premise is rather simple. You play as Rick, a fox looking to get treasure, a magic crossbow, and eventually a meal out of an annoying bird character named Patty. To this end you help her and a magic tree collect bark from the four seasons to help prevent the creation of a fifth season. The game doesn’t feature much in the way of a compelling story, and the writing tends to be pretty weak with some somewhat annoying references sprinkled throughout....

There’s a lot of new content knocking on Absolver’s door. The ultra-sleek martial arts game is getting an expansion this September. According to a post on the game’s official website, the Absolver expansion is called Downfall. And it’s completely free. Downfall adds a new game mode to Absolver. Sharing its name with the expansion’s title, Downfall has players battling through an underground mine. Players can tackle the content by themselves or team up with a partner through the game’s online co-op system....

A few months ago, we covered developer Frogwares’ surprising decision to put out major DLC for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One during a difficult time. A Ukrainian studio, Frogwares has had the lives of its employees massively affected by the war in Ukraine — which has continued since late February. This would have made a potential decision by Frogwares to suspend its work understandable, but the studio has instead chosen to continue developing projects....

GAME Sweden has filed for bankruptcy. The retailer currently has 31 stores across Sweden and one in Norway. All are expected to close. GAME Stores Group Sweden AB, which operates the retailer’s Swedish division, was acquired by Nordic Games in 2012 following GAME’s UK administration, and is described by the firm as “one of the two leading specialty retailers in Nordic”. The company is believed to employ 127 members of staff....

GameStop has announced another quarter of large losses, as the company continues to struggle in a market that is rapidly shifting to a digital format. The announcement continues the trend of bad news for GameStop’s shareholders, as the company’s stock price continues its steady decline. GameStop’s announcement included a loss of $415.3 million last quarter, with multiple categories experiencing significant decreases in sales. Chief among them was a 41% decline in new console sales, which can be attributed to the announcement of next-gen hardware coming next holiday season....

Codemaster’s upcoming racing game reboot, GRID, has just received an official launch trailer. Okay, I know Activision is a fan of pumping out different iterations of franchises, but this is more ridiculous than a jumping goomba. An Activision employee by the name of Nigel Li has an online resume, and within his project listings, you can spot (or could have - it has since been taken down) that he listed both Guitar Hero 7 and Band Hero 3.
