Sony’s gearing up for the launch of God of War in style with the announcement of a swanky limited edition PS4 Pro bundle. Releasing alongside the highly anticipated dad-’em-up on April 20, the bundle features a custom Leviathan Grey 1TB PS4 Pro console that plucks inspiration from the design of Kratos’ axe, a matching DualShock 4 controller, plus a physical copy of God of War Day One Edition. Today Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studios released the launch trailer of their massively-anticipated action-adventure God of War Ragnarok. The trailer is actually very brief for a launch trailer, clocking at just 30 seconds, basically like a TV commercial. Yet, it still packs quite a bit of flavor, giving us glimpses of quite a few new and returning characters on top of teasing the story. Incidentally, Sony seems to have taken a page from Activision’s book, releasing the “launch” trailer nearly two weeks before the actual launch....

In his emotional acceptance speech for Best Performance, Christopher Judge revealed something previously unknown. When Cory Barlog announced he wasn’t coming back for God of War Ragnarok, Judge threatened to quit, as he didn’t want to do the sequel with a different director. Cory Barlog instead told him to trust Eric Williams, and so he did. It’s surprising that we almost didn’t get the incredible God of War Ragnarok that got Christopher Judge tonight’s award....

Google and Nvidia have contacted US financial regulators about Microsoft’s proposed $69bn takeover of Activision Blizzard, according to Bloomberg (paywall). Sources told the website both Google and Nvidia had “expressed concerns” to the Federal Trade Commision (FTC), which sued to block the deal in December. The FTC has argued the buyout, which would grant Microsoft ownership of the likes of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Candy Crush, would reduce competition in the industry - a claim Microsoft has strongly denied....

Gotham Season 5 is here! Gotham Season 5 was renewed by Fox in what TV Line described as an “11th hour decision” for the network. Gotham Season 5 will mark the final batch of episodes for Fox’s Batman prequel, and the idea is that this will be the year that will “wrap up” Bruce’s early journey to becoming Batman. The renewal was a little bit of a surprise considering that Gotham hasn’t been at its most fabulous – in terms of ratings, at least – during its fourth season....

2010 saw the release of at least two amazing, independently made platformers in VVVVVV and Super Meat Boy. Likely due to Super Meat Boy’s inclusion in the PAX 10, a group of ten outstanding independent games, and an initial release on the Xbox 360, Super Meat Boy became much more popular than VVVVVV. To share the love, Team Meat went on to include VVVVVV’s Captain Viridian as a playable character in Super Meat Boy’s PC release....

Ever since the announcement trailer for Dead Island spread like a Zombie-apocalypse across the Internet, buzz surrounding the game has been at an all time high. With only a few generic screenshots to give gamers a taste of brains, I mean Techland’s upcoming FPS melee combat game, the blood-thirsty Dead Island hopeful haven’t had much else to do but replay the notorious trailer over and over and over. Now that Angry Birds has officially taken over every electronic playspace imaginable, it seems the time has come to make its inevitable invasion into the real world. Rovio has teamed up with German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom to create a paper-mâché rendition of a level from Angry Birds and plop it down on the street. The level has been set-up in the city of Terrassa, Spain, and both a flash mob and a live band were been hired to participate in the event....

Rockstar’s parent company Take Two Interactive has admitted that it “misspoke” during an earnings call earlier this week when it claimed that it had not previously discussed plans for story mode DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5. In a message to Game Informer, Take Two’s VP of corporate communications and public affairs acknowledged that “Strauss [Zelnick, CEO] misspoke during today’s call, as over a year ago Rockstar Games had said that they were exploring story mode content for Grand Theft Auto V”....

Halo: Reach was originally released nine years ago in 2010 for Xbox 360, but it has been given new life thanks to its new release this week as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One and PC. Interestingly, the game almost had a different title, which developer Bungie had been calling it for quite some time until Microsoft insisted that it be changed. David Candland, who was responsible for the UI for Bungie’s Halo games (as well as Destiny and Destiny 2), revealed on Twitter that Bungie had been calling the game simply Reach, not Halo: Reach....

343 Industries has offered fans more details on the upcoming Halo Infinite campaign co-op beta later this month. The long-awaited feature will allow players to team up through the game’s story mode from the week of July 11. Up to four players will be able to don Master Chief’s helmet, regardless of which Xbox console or PC. Furthermore, the team has confirmed that progress will be shared between all players, so any stuff you unlock and earn in co-op will be retained when you return to solo play....
