A new studio named Gardens has been established by former Journey and What Remains of Edith Finch developers. The collective will operate as a remote studio, but based mostly in LA and Portland, Oregon. The new studio’s mission statement is to “create vibrant online games that foster meaningful multiplayer moments and relationships between players around the world”. Leading the outfit are co-founders Chris Bell, Lexie Dostal and Stephen Bell. Their combined credits include Journey, What Remains of Edith Finch, Dustforce and Blaseball....

Today Mihoyo announced the details of the upcoming Version 2.5 update of its popular action RPG Genshin Impact, titled “When the Sakura Bloom.” It will release on PS5, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android on February 16. It has been a long time coming, but positive steps are finally being made towards Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op mode. Halo Infinite Season 2 recently began on May 3, and it introduced some issues along with its new content. In particular, Halo Infinite players were frustrated over developer 343 Industries’ decision to remove skill jumps from online multiplayer maps. But it looks like that change will soon be reverted. Hellpoint, an upcoming action RPG from Cradle Games, is set to release on April 16 for PC and consoles. The PC version will arrive on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Following yesterday’s brief gameplay tease, Sega has released a considerably more substantial seven minutes of Sonic Frontiers gameplay, offering a much clearer look at how the hedgehog’s first foray into open-world platforming will likely play out. Yesterday’s footage was perhaps most notable for the rather muted art style Sega has opted for this time around, with the game - at least from what we’ve seen so far - placing Sonic in a realistically hewn world that almost feels closer to the sodden, boulder-pocked hillsides of Death Stranding than it does the colour-blasted Sonic backdrops of old....

Forza Horizon 4 will receive its first expansion pack on December 13, Microsoft announced during its X018 event over the weekend. Fortune Island will be the ’largest expansion’ the series has seen to date, and features plenty of hazards in the shape of fierce storms and treacherous terrain, as well as the obligatory lineup of new vehicles and challenges. Playground Games has dropped its latest Series 5 update for Forza Horizon 5 including the addition of sign language support. The headline feature sees both American Sign Language and British Sign Language options added for the game’s cutscenes. Once installed players will be able to activate the option for cutscenes and see them signed by members of the deaf and hard of hearing community. They’ll be able to adjust things like placement of the signer, and even the colour and opacity of the background....

Rocket League is getting a brand new update called Sandy Shores next week that ushers in the start of competitive season 8, a lovely beach-like arena, and a couple of new tunes. Whoever said the Nintendo Switch couldn’t run the CryEngine? In a surprise release on Nintendo’s portable hybrid console, MY.GAMES free-to-player shooter Warface is now available to download. Originally launched on PC back in 2013, the game made its way to modern consoles in 2018 and is now finding a home on Switch. Basically an amalgamation of every modern military shooter and its game types, Warface is a class-based shooter that offers a range of PvP and PvE modes....

With Future Man, Hulu may just have accomplished what many have tried but few have succeeded in doing: creating the perfect comedy/science-fiction hybrid. Some shows undermine their high-minded drama by peppering it with occasional juvenile humour while others place too much emphasis on the jokes and largely ignore their speculative concept. To use crude but in this case accurate imagery, Future Man goes balls-deep with its time travel plot and grabs pop-culture comedy by the throat, bringing the kind of raw energy needed to sustain both a complex sci-fi plot and the expletive-laden but surprisingly sophisticated humour....

Namekian physiology is still a bit of a mystery, but we know that these slug-like aliens don’t consume nutrients in the same way that humans do.
