Fortnite has kicked off Chapter 3, Season 3 of the battle royale shooter this weekend, entitled Vibin. The new season was heralded by the Collision event, which saw players team up to pilot huge mechs. After the dust had settled, and the servers reset, players were introduced to a bunch of new features. This included a new biome on the game’s map known as Reality Falls, resplendent with mushrooms, purple trees and a huge Reality Tree....

The Fortnite v10.20 content update is a beefy one, introducing two new Rift Zones, a limited time mode, and Item Shop voting to the toony battle royale. A Rift Zone has brought Greasy Grove back to Fortnite, but not everything is as it seems. A Fortnite streamer who assaulted his pregnant girlfriend during a stream has been spared jail time by an Australian court. Luke James Munday pleaded guilty to assaulting Grace Campbell back in July and, having appeared in court on Wednesday, was sentenced to a 14-month good behavior bond that will see him kept away from prison providing he does not break the terms of said bond. Such a sentence is usually handed to a juvenile or first-time offender but Munday was fortunate enough to be placed on one despite being neither....

Fortnite has teased the return of an enormous icon from its original Island, as the clock counts down to the game’s latest big season finale. While not yet confirmed by developer Epic Games, eagle-eyed Fortnite leakers are confident this season will end in another of the game’s eye-catching live events - the first of 2022 - likely on Saturday, 4th June. This afternoon, Epic itself issued a typically cryptic teaser with snippets of audio and an unmistakable logo at the end: the fan-favourite Mech (or Mecha Team Leader, to give its full name) which duelled and ultimately beat Fortnite’s Devourer monster in one of the game’s most memorable moments back in 2019....

We steeled ourselves for the fight ahead as we navigated between the coral reefs, the silhouette of a megaladon in the distance. Carrie Fisher might be best known for being Princess Leia, but it turns out she had a surprising minor role in Dishonored. It’s a well-hidden one, something you could go a whole play-through without ever discovering. That’s because you have to off a certain NPC to earn the right to hear Fisher’s voice. Dishonored’s city of Dunwall is filled with loudspeakers that act as both announcement sources and alarms. The player character Corvo can cut them down to avoid guards being alerted to his actions, or he can just avoid them and listen as a male NPC known as the Propaganda Officer keeps Dunwall citizens updated on the city’s happenings....

Update: Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford offered David Eddings twice the union minimum rate to reprise his role in Borderlands 3. Gearbox apparently refused to pay the original voice of Claptrap to reprise his role in Borderlands 3. According to a tweet from David Eddings, the voice actor of Claptrap in Borderlands 1, 2, The Pre Sequel, and Tales from the Borderlands, Gearbox offered Eddings the job of Claptrap in Borderlands 3, but as soon as he asked to be paid for his services, Gearbox left him out in the cold....

Muscle-bound bro shooter Gears 5 has been ‘built from the ground up for the PC,’ developer The Coalition has revealed. Speaking with Wired, studio big cheese Rod Fergusson revealed that the sequel will boast a variety of performance options for PC users. That’s not to say the Xbox One X version won’t be a looker either; Fergusson said the team is aiming for ‘60fps at 4K’ on Microsoft’s bulky box. For record, Gears of War 4 strutted its stuff at 30fps while running in 4K resolution or 60fps at 1080p....

Gears of War 4’s multiplayer beta will begin in an early access phase on April 18, followed by an open beta period for all Xbox Live Gold members on April 24, Microsoft has announced. The beta test will end for all players on May 1. To gain access on April 18 you’ll need to have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 before April 11 whilst logged into Xbox Live....

Ever since Microsoft purchased the rights to the Gears of War IP from Epic Games, it has been working to expand its reach. This has included continuing the main franchise beyond the original Xbox 360 trilogy, as well as investing in spinoff titles, like the upcoming Gears Tactics. We haven’t heard much about Gears Tactics since its E3 2018 reveal, but The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson offered fans a brief update on the game on Twitter....

I’m a bit of a nostalgia hound. This weekend I tasked my long-suffering husband with carting my ancient record player from dining room oblivion to the centre of my study. Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse (which manages all of miHoYo’s global operations outside of China) has teased its upcoming game, Zenless Zone Zero. The game’s site is now live and shows a digital clock perched atop a retro TV. Meanwhile, off to one side, there is a calendar couting down to 13th May. More interestingly (and also more strangely), the dials on the TV can actually be twiddled by clicking on them and, when done so, one of two videos will start playing....

One of the least surprising moments at The Game Awards 2019 was the arrival of a new trailer for the PlayStation 4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima.
