It’s been a long road for the Master Chief Collection on PC. Ever since its announcement, 343 Industries has trickled out content, game by game. Now, the August flight test is live, bringing segments of Halo 3: ODST to players along with a host of technical improvements. If you’re a Halo Insider, you may already have an invite to play some ODST campaign levels and take part in select multiplayer sessions....
Often, gamers will place restrictions on themselves while playing their favorite games for challenge runs. Normally, this can include things like no healing or conserving as much ammo as possible, or even something like this Pokemon Sword and Shield solo-Wooloo playthrough. What streamer Super Louis 64 did, though, was on a whole other level. The streamer completed Halo 3 on the highest difficulty using a Guitar Hero controller. Needless to say, that’s pretty insane....
The multiplayer scene of Halo Infinite hit an early slump when it launched into beta last month. Players bemoaned the mind-numbing grind, and its first event left many feeling disappointed. Fracture: Tenrai brought samurai-themed items to the game, but many of the fancier cosmetics were locked behind paywalls. The Halo Infinite Tenrai event is returning in January, and 343 Industries plans to make it better by offering up more cosmetics as opposed to other awards....
After years of waiting and hype, the latest game in the renowned Halo series, Halo Infinite, finally launched today. Longtime fans will no doubt want to experience everything that the finished product has to offer, including the semi-open-world structure in its single-player campaign, a first for the series. Interestingly, though, the campaign that players will experience does not represent developer 343 Industries’ original vision for the mode. In fact, a recent Bloomberg article detailing the development woes of Halo Infinite reveals that 343 Industries wanted the campaign to feature a sprawling open world akin to the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild....
Before its launch, The Callisto Protocol sold itself on its gory content, and especially its visceral death animations, but how grotesque could one game really be? Well, Zoe Delahunty-Light has carried out the very grim task of finding every single scene in which the protagonist, Jacob Lee (and a few others) gets unalived by the game’s blood-thirsty Biophage enemies. Do be warned though, if you do watch Zoe’s video (above), you will probably end up on a list somewhere, although at least Zoe will already be there to keep you company....
Metal Gear director Hideo Kojima will be presented with the BAFTA Fellowship “in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution” to the games industry. “Thank you very much for this precious BAFTA Fellowship award. IO has declared that Hitman Freelancer will launch as a brand new game mode for the Hitman: World of Assassination collection (formerly known as Hitman 3) later this month. The new mode will bring some rogue-lite elements to the assassination game, allowing players to take on contracts in their own preferred style and building up their own Hitman empire. First announced last year, Freelancer will be a singleplayer affair, but promises to give players “more freedom” by giving them the choice of which Syndicates to go up against – and what missions to take on....
Former WCW and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader died on Monday; Vader’s son announced the news on Twitter. Vader wrestled for WWE from 1996-98 before returning to Japan. Vader, whose real name was Leon White, died after complications from pneumonia; he was 63 years old and has been battling health issues for more than a decade. In 2007, he underwent knee replacement surgery and the wounds from the surgery became infected....
Fortnite’s Winterfest has brought with it the season of giving, as players can get their hands on free skins, gliders, and more all through the holiday season. This festive season, Epic has decided to give away some of its perennial cash cows away for free. Winterfest has arrived on the island and with it, a lodge teeming with gifts. Players can pick 14 of those gifts, one per day, between now and New Year’s Eve....
According to a recent rumor from a Fortnite leaker with a good track record, Epic Games will reveal a new area for the game that will replace the location called Neo Tilted. Season 10 of Fortnite began recently and brought with it a huge new patch that introduced some big changes into the game. The patch has already made a lot of updates to the map, including the return of some old favorite spots, and the patch notes hint strongly that new locations will continue to roll out throughout the season....

Forza Motorsport has reportedly been delayed from its previously announced “spring 2023” release date on Xbox Series X/S and PC to “Q3 maybe even a little bit later”. Plagued with numerous gameplay bugs, performance, issues, visual glitches, and loads more. The game was so bad that Sony offered refunds to those who bought the game for the PS4. Games for Carers is a new collaboration between game developers and UKIE, and it will give away more than 80,000 games to NHS staff on the frontline of the pandemic (via VGC). Games for Cares aims to offer games for free to frontline NHS staff, for when they are able to relax and spend some time at home, or for their families who are also feeling the strain. “With Ukie able to reach out to its contents and Keymailer offering to help out with distribution, we’re now looking at around 80,000 codes available when the site launches on Wednesday, with more on the way should they be needed,” said Chris Scullion, a writer for VGC who put his idea in motion....

With the release of Gears 5 just a few days away, Gears developer, The Coalition, has announced a few details about Gears Esports, with a full announcement to come on September 13th. The Gears Pro League will officially launch on September 22nd. Gears Esports has teamed up with esports tournament organizer, PGL, to operate three major events leading into a World Championship, as well as several regional events. So far, we know that players all over the world will be able to compete in regional ladders and online tournaments for cash prizes....
Gears Tactics, one of the three Gears games announced at Xbox’s E3 2018 showcase, didn’t make an appearance at this year’s big Microsoft show. We now know, thanks to a Kotaku interview with producer Rod Fergusson, that it’s still coming. It hasn’t been chainsawed to pieces or anything. ‘Last year we wanted to really talk about all three games and show that Microsoft is tripling down on the Gears of War franchise,’ Fergusson told Kotaku....
