Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption publisher Take-Two has revealed to MCV that it has licensed two of its properties for motion pictures, though isn’t ready to discuss the specifics at this point in time. CEO Strauss Zelnick told MCV: “We have licensed a couple of titles for motion picture production and we don’t have much more to say about that yet.” He added: “We are certainly not going to use our own balance sheet to invest in motion pictures and TV....

Last weekend, Rockstar Games ran into some issues with its online services, making it impossible for many Grand Theft Auto 5 players to play the game’s popular GTA Online multiplayer mode. Now it appears those problems have reared their ugly head again, as many users are reporting that they are unable to get online. The issues appear to be impacting GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, though it’s unclear how widespread they are at the time of this writing....

The battle for ownership of Ubisoft intensified yesterday as the Guillemot family acquired a further four million shares worth 144 million euros, increasing its stake in the games maker by 3.5 per cent. As of July the Guillemots held only nine per cent of the firm and 15 per cent of the voting rights. The move by Guillemot Brothers SE comes as efforts increase to keep Ubisoft independent and out of the hands of Vivendi SA, which now owns just over 20 per cent of the publisher....

Producer Yousuke Hayashi was recently interviewed in the popular Japanese gaming mag, Famitsu, and had a chance to discuss Team Ninja’s progress on Ninja Gaiden 3 as well as some of the company’s other projects. According to Hayashi, Gaiden 3 development is well underway, but unfortunately it wasn’t all good news with Mr. Hayashi as he confirmed that a couple Team Ninja titles have been cancelled. Playing coy on the direction Team Ninja is taking Ninja Gaiden 3, Hayashi wants to keep quiet on the game’s themes so it will come as a surprise to gamers once they do get announced....

With a little over two weeks into the newest Hearthstone expansion, the second season of Grandmasters is set to begin from August 23-25 with the new format - a best of three conquest that includes both a shield and a ban phase. Matches will begin at 5am EDT on each day and can be seen here, on the Hearthstone Twitch channel. While the format is new and replacing Specialist, the decks we are most likely to see on top should be consistent with the final results in the Masters Tour Seoul that wrapped up only days ago....

Kongregate announced that it will be publishing the bullet hell platformer Hell is Other Demons. Developed by Cuddle Monster Games, the arcade shooter will feature bright, chunky pixel art graphics and lightning fast gameplay. Players will take the role of a demon whose purpose is to kill other demons. The game also promises to deliver “wonderfully over-the-top bosses” to dominate as players progress through the campaign levels. Once the campaign is complete, players can dive into the Arcade Mode, which offers procedurally generated levels for infinite replayability....
