Halo veteran and former Bungie director Paul Bertone has joined 343 Industries as studio technical design director. Bertone worked on Bungie’s five Halo games before leaving the studio ahead of its work on Destiny, but will now return to the series. The news was shared on Twitter by Joseph Staten, head of creative for Halo Infinite. “I’m happy to confirm Halo veteran Paul Bertone has joined the team as Studio Technical Design Director....

A balance update has been announced for Hearthstone, which will be released on August 26 following the conclusion of the first competitive event of the second season of Grandmasters competition. In total, five nerfs are being made that target Control Warrior, Highlander Mage, and surprisingly, Combo Priest in Standard and Big Priest in Wild. These changes are sure to bump down the efficiency of Warrior and Mage in competitive events and give rise to other decks....

Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase is now over, and while it might have been regrettably devoid of any new Silksong details, it did at least reveal more of Sidebar Games’ long-awaited Golf Story follow-up, Sports Story - alongside the surprise reveal that it’s out in December. There’s a lot more where that came from though, with Nintendo choosing to highlight over 20 promising new indie titles heading to Switch before next summer is through - a few of which, such as the wonderful Rogue Legacy 2, are out today....

London Games Festival’s Virtual Photographer of the Year competition has been won by the striking Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot you can see above. Joe Meizies from the UK scooped top prize in the competition that “challenged aspiring artists to capture the most striking images taken from within a video game to bring those worlds and characters to life”. Applicants could choose from three categories - landscape, portrait and abstract - and the screenshot could be taken from any video game played on any platform....

Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya has shared an update on how development of the highly-anticipated Bayonetta 3 is going, and everything appears to be “on track” (via VGC). The third installment in the Bayonetta series was first seen at The Game Awards in 2017, which debuted a reveal trailer for the Switch exclusive title and was accompanied by an announcement for ports of Bayonetta 1 and 2. These re-releases came out in February 2018, and a Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle will bring 4K resolution and 60fps to the classic game on the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X in February....

The first Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 trailer shown after the Fracture Event teased an upcoming collaboration with the popular anime series My Hero Academia. However, there has been no further information given from any official Fortnite channels. Though, it seems the My Hero Academia manga publisher has some news to share. Rumours are circulating that Gears of War could be next in-line to get a package similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. That’s according to Nick Baker speaking on the Xbox Era podcast. As spotted by GamesRadar, Baker claimed he’d been told “another Microsoft franchise will be getting the Master Chief Collection treatment”.
