Daybreak Games has announced that it’s transitioning to a free to play business model for H1Z1, presumably in an attempt to attract new players and have a shot at competing with battle royale royalty Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Starting today at 6.00pm GMT, H1Z1 will eschew its standard $19.99 price tag in favour of becoming a free download for everyone. However, if you already snapped up the game in Early Access or during its brief spell as a full release game, you’ll be rewarded the H1Z1 Appreciation Pack....

Last week, Hasbro announced Monopoly: Longest Game Ever, a version of the popular board game that can take hours, even days, to complete. Now, Hasbro has announced a version that has entirely different goals called Monopoly: Speed. Monopoly: Speed has rules in place that make it so the game ends in ten minutes or less. Instead of taking turns to buy and trade properties, this takes place in timed rounds. Community Chest cards offer bonuses at the end of the game....

Striking Distance and publisher Krafton have unveiled a new teaser for its upcoming horror, The Callisto Protocol. Imaginatively entitled “official launch trailer UK”, it packs a lot of action into just under two minutes of footage, most of which we’ve seen before, but some that will be new to those who have been tracking the game’s development. Sonic the Hedgehog has been in theaters less than a week and shocking almost everyone, it is actually doing really well. In fact, the movie is already the most successful feature-length film based on a video game in history. (Suck it, Detective Pikachu!) More importantly, people seem to genuinely love it, and so much so that with each passing day, a sequel seems more and more inevitable. Paramount and Sega have given themselves plenty to work with should a sequel be on the cards, and we’re not only referring to that mid-credits scene, which we will talk about later....

Patch 10.30 has been dropped by Epic Games for Fortnite, bringing two new locations to the map with interesting gameplay mechanics that will have players thinking twice about how harmless a toilet might be. As is becoming normal, Rift Beacons on the map seem to indicate where we will see big changes to a location. The first location added is Moisty Palms. In this Rift Zone players can crouch to transform temporary into a random prop....

The latest episode of the ongoing Forza Horizon 5 Let’s Go! series dropped last night, offering up more gameplay ahead of the racer’s launch next month. First off, we took a trip to the first player house in the game, Casa Bella, to look at the game’s character customisation features. A bunch of new items and options have been added since the previous games. These include new hair, face items, masks and even prosthetics for your driving avatar to sport....

Genshin Impact is on track to add four new regions over the next four years, according to miHoYo. The CEO of miHoYo, Haoyu Cai, announced their plans to complete all of Teyvat during miHoYo’s GDC 2021 conference. Genshin Impact just received an update with the new continent Inazuma, a vast series of islands inspired by Japan. Currently, Inazuma is the third of seven regions to be released in the game, including Mondstadt and Liyue....

Activision is working on a new Ghostbusters game due for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC this summer. Heading to North America on July 12, the game is said to be a 4-player top-down RPG that sees a brand new cast of rookie Ghostbusters called in to keep New York City safe following the events of this year’s movie. Players will get to play as both male and female characters, and make use of the franchise’s famous Proton Packs to exterminate ghosts....

After over a year of teasing and hints and ARGs, we finally have a trailer for WB Montreal’s next game based on the Batman universe.
