Aysmmetrical multiplayer slasher Friday the 13th: The Game looks to be winding down operations, as developer Gun Media has announced that dedicated servers are set to be decomissioned later this month. In a post on the official forums announcing the news, lead developer Matt Shotcha said that the move means the game will revert back to using peer-to-peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies, though database servers will remain functional, allowing players to retain their player progression and unlocks in spite of the move....

PlayStation 4 has drummed up an impressive 73.6 million sales worldwide as of December 31 2017, Sony announced overnight. 343 Industries confirmed that the Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer mode will get its classic sounds in a future update (via GameSpot). The developer is responding to the continual requests for the classic audio to return, and it’s collaborating with audio post-production studio Formosa Group to make it happen. “The good news is we already have two identical sound sets for H:CEA, the original and the Anniversary updated content,” said Paul Lipson of Formosa Group....

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is getting crossplay, server region selection, custom game browser, mouse and keyboard support for Xbox, and more before the end of the year. 343 Industries intentions have been published in a new post to Halo Waypoint, and covered the biggest additions to the Collection that are in the works. For those who have been waiting to be able to play Halo Infinite’s campaign with friends, you will soon get your chance. It should also be known that the co-op found in Halo Infinite will allow for cross-play between whatever Xbox console you have and PC, so any mixture of Halo friends can play together. The exact information is written in a Halo Waypoint blog post: While co-op is a massive deal, it isn’t the only new thing headed to Halo Infinite that other games in the franchise had at launch....

In a post on the developer’s blog, 343 Industries revealed some new information on the upcoming Halo Infinite. 343 confirmed that the game is going to be playable in 2020 by way of “Flighting programs”—which are basically like beta tests. “These opt-in flights will start small and slowly expand out until release, so sign up for the Halo Insider program!” the post reads. The post does’t go into much detail on what exactly will be tested, but it would make sense that the tests would be for the game’s multiplayer, given that it will sustain Halo Infinite well beyond its release, and that there will also be an internal “Pro Team” to help sort out balance issues with the game....

The developer behind juggernaut Pokémon Go, Niantic, has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Now, I don’t know loads about Harry Potter, so I’ll try and explain the events of the trailer as best as I can. So, first of all, the easy bit: it’ll be out in 2019. That’s at the end. There’s no gameplay before or after the number ‘2019’, but there is footage of what looks like a woman mercilessly killing a golden fly by shooting electricity from her fingertips....
