It was a miracle to some when Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) arrived on PC. The collection of Halo games first found a home on Microsoft’s Xbox One console, albeit with a not-so-smooth launch. Despite its road bumps along the way, the collection found a new home on PC thanks to Steam and the Microsoft Store. There have been various updates, patches, and features added during its lifetime, most of which coming in detailed updates on the Halo Waypoint blog....

Hearthstone, the card collecting game from Blizzard, now has over 30 million registered players, the game’s official social media channels have announced. “BY THE POWER OF RAGNAROS, 30 million players have joined us by the hearth! Thanks for pulling up a chair!” reads a Tweet. Back in February the game reached 25 million players, up from 20 million in September 2014. Much of the increase could be the result of the game rolling out on iOS and Android platforms....

Heels is an inside jargon term within the professional wrestling industry referring to the role of villainous wrestlers, whose jobs are to generate “heat” (essentially energetic negativity,) amongst the audience, getting people behind the heroic “babyface” wrestler. Yet, it’s a concept to which Stephen Amell, the former heroic defender of Arrow’s Star City, will soon become associated, thanks to a Starz television series. Starz gave an eight-episode order for an hourlong wrestling-centric drama, called Heels, back in August 2019, setting up the next television platform for Amell, who has completed a defining eight-season starring run on The CW’s Arrow, and has long been associated with wrestling, having participated in it sporadically, utilizing his now-legendary training....

Night School Studios has released a new trailer for its highly-anticipated sequel, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals. Debuting during Tribeca Games Showcase, the teaser introduces us to Jacob Summers and his relationship with Riley, as well as give us a chance to hear directly from the game’s team, including writer Adam Esquenazi Douglas and Sean Krankel, Night School’s studio director. Heroes of the Storm is getting its biggest character yet, Deathwing. Blizzard has just released the Deathwing reveal trailer, as well as some footage of the hero in action. Are we even allowed to call him a hero after what he did in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm? The last hero Blizzard introduced to the Nexus was a regular human with a unique Chainblade. Not exactly comparable to a world-ending dragon. The developers and game designers had their work cut out for them with this one....

In the studio’s August Roadmap update post, IO Interactive has dubbed the accidental briefcase glitch an official gadget, called The Homing Briefcase. When Hitman 2 launched, an undiscovered glitch caused any briefcase thrown by Agent 47 to hit home on its leisurely strolling target, even around corners. It was a sight to behold, this rectangle that disobeyed the laws of physics, but IO Interactive brought it back down to earth and patched the glitch out....

A new Fortnite Crew pack arrives in April, featuring a new cat-like hero named Alli. Fans may recall Lynx, a legendary icon with four stages introduced back in Chapter 1. As it turns out, Lynx has a sister, and she’s equally as feisty. Fortnite Crew subscribers can nab the next pack at the end of this month. According to Epic Games, Lynx’s “felinely fashionable” sister, Alli, will have her own outfit, as well as the Squee Back Bling, a Skellyfish Pickaxe, a Cat’s Paw Wrap, and the Catwalk Loading Screen....

It looks like ‘social deduction’ is the hot new genre, as now Fortnite Impostors has launched as a new mode for Fortnite from today. The new mode is played with a maximum of ten players, with eight as Agents and two as Impostors. You’ll be transported to a new map known as The Bridge and must complete a series of tasks. These include calibrating chests and llamas, repairing the Battle Bus and more....

Playground Games has offered fans an update on what it’s doing to address multiplayer issues in Forza Horizon 5 that have cropped up following the game’s launch last month. The community update addresses player reports of issues around matchmaking, connectivity and teaming up in convoys. The team say they’re listening to player feedback and reports, and have identified six key areas they’re prioritising for improvement. Issues mentioned include players disappearing from convoys and not being pulled into Horizon Life servers with their convoy....

The impending end of 2019 is giving magazines and websites all over the world an excuse to run all sorts of “best of” and “worst of” pieces. We at TheGamer are doing it, and so are several consumer groups. One French organization in particular named Nintendo one of its worst companies of the year. This “honor” was mostly earned by the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con drift issues. The outlet in question is a magazine by the name of 60 Millions de Consommateurs....

GameStop’s annual tax season sale returns and once again offer massive discounts on some of the biggest video games, consoles, and gaming accessories. The sale is live right now and will run until March 7, 2020, giving players plenty of time to browse the store’s wide variety of up to 500 items that are currently discounted. Headlining GameStop’s Tax Sale is 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The game is available at GameStop for a cheap price of $37....

One of the most successful games of 2019 was Gears 5, a triumphant sequel that caps off the franchise’s tumultuous Xbox One run. Gears 5 was so solid that most Xbox fans likely forgot that not only is it not the only Gears game currently in development, but also isn’t the last Gears game this generation. Today Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse officially revealed version 3.1 of the popular online action RPG. The update is titled “King Deshret and the Three Magi” and will launch on September 28. This time around we move from the rainforest to the desert to continue the story and our exploration of Sumeru, while three new characters will appear: Candace, Cyno, and Nilou. Nexon has announced Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – First Assault, a team-based, tactical first-person shooter coming to PC in 2016. Based on the classic manga franchise, First Assault puts players in the role of one of eight elite, augmented soldiers each featuring their own unique abilities and attributes, fighting against terrorists in a futuristic cyberpunk universe. Examples of special abilities, including Motoko Kusanagi’s ‘Therm-optic Camouflage’ cloaking technology and Saito’s special vision-enhancing ability....

The action-adventure game, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, was originally released back in 2009, and gained positive reviews from critics and fans alike. One of the things which sets the game apart from others based around the franchise, is the involvement of Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, as well as other members of the movie’s original cast. It’s their heart for the franchise which makes this game still stand out, even 10 years later....

Ever since its reveal at E3 a couple of months ago, Bethesda’s Ghostwire: Tokyo already has a number of fans buzzing. And it appears that the game’s creative director may already be planning ahead for where the series goes next. In a tweet that’s since been deleted, Ikumi Nakamura indicated she was thinking over locations for a follow-up.
