If you’ve been giving Genshin Impact a go for the past month, you’ll know that miHoYo’s free-to-play, open-world RPG has lots of characters for you to try out. Now, it looks a few more combatants will join the roster once Genshin Impact‘s version 1.1 update arrives. The content update called “A New Star Approaches” introduces several characters such as Childe and Zhongli. To be clear, these two are 5-star “gacha” grabs via Wish microtransactions....

The divisive Google Stadia is trying to stand tall after stumbling out of the gates, and those who have a Pro subscription to the heavily marketed and extremely underwhelming platform get a monthly reward. January’s offerings will be Rise of the Tomb Raider as well as the rhythm action title Thumper. While Stadia Pro subscribers do enjoy the intended benefits of the system such as 4K streaming and surround sound, the inclusion of the aged Tomb Raider title is odd considering it is coming right after the holiday season....

The line between PC gaming and Xbox is slowly fading. PC gamers can now enjoy Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on their home computer, and Microsoft has confirmed that for today only they are offering a one-month subscription for the price of a dollar. That is a pretty sweet deal, especially if you consider some of the games on offer. The recently released Imperator: Rome is on the list, so strategy fans will be happy with that one....

God of War Ragnarök is already pulling in some impressive numbers for Sony. According to charts firm GfK, the game’s day one physical sales in the UK were greater than “any other full-week launch sales for other titles in this franchise”. Speaking to GameIndustry.biz, GfK boss Dorian Bloch stated “God of War Ragnarök will debut at No.1” on next week’s sales charts, while noting it is the “first cross-gen title in the series”....

Sony released the official God of War TV spot in the US over the weekend during an episode of Family Guy, giving Kratos a chance to flex his CG-pumped muscles as he teaches his young son ‘why we fight.’ God of War is inching closer to its release next month on PS4, so it’s understandable that Sony is starting to ramp up its marketing efforts for what is easily one of the biggest games of the year, let alone for that platform....

Fans of Rare’s 1997 Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007 have another reason to be excited for the re-imagining due out November 2nd for the Wii. Activision has just announced that they will release a second version of the game along side the standard release. This ‘Classic Edition’ will include a gold colored Classic Wii Controller along with the game for $69.99. GoldenEye 007 seems to be giving gamers a lot of options when it comes to control settings....

Agony from Mad Mind Studios is out on 29 May promising some horrific looking gameplay. Today Mad Mind announced a new mode that will launch with the game called Agony Mode. This mode will bring procedurally generated chambers to test players’ survival skills and these chambers will be made from human bones or frosted ice chambers. How welcoming. This new mode will also allow players to choose their character’s gender prior to running around the levels partaking in random quests and challenges....

Guillermo del Toro is a busy man. The critically acclaimed director of Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth is attached to several movie projects, just released his second novel, and is constantly talking about forthcoming creative endeavors. Such a hectic schedule often forces the average person to take a break and relax, but not del Toro. Instead of taking a break, del Toro has added another project to his plate. In a recent interview, del Toro put the speculation to rest and confirmed that he is working with THQ on a series of triple-A horror games....

Back when Halo: The Master Chief Collection was first confirmed for PC, Microsoft stated that it would come one game at a time. Halo Reach arrived late last year, and next up on the docket should be Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, an enhanced remake of the original Halo experience. And, based on a few new hints, it seems like it may be arriving soon. For the past few weeks, 343 Industries has had select players doing test runs of Halo Anniversary....

The show is expected to be an adaptation of the plot of the first game, which follows the grizzled protagonist, Joel, in his journey across a post-apocalyptic America accompanied by Ellie, a young girl who may hold the key to curing the plague that led to the downfall of civilization. The Last of Us received universal praise upon its release in 2013, with much of its acclaim being focused on its bleak and emotional story, and many fans have long hoped for a screen adaptation of the popular game....

Tonight’s Xbox Developer_Direct showcase has debuted footage of Minecraft Legends’ PVP multiplayer mode, which will be included at launch as a separate part of game, distinct from its campaign. In Minecraft Legends, PVP is a cross-platform affair for up to eight players, split into two teams. Each team’s objective is to capture and destroy their opponent’s base, while building up defences around their own. As in the main Legends campaign, PVP areas are procedurally generated - a nod back to the vanilla Minecraft....
