God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West lead the charge in this year’s DICE awards nominations. A total of 61 games have been nominated in the 2022 round of The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ (AIAS) 26th annual DICE event, which is not to be confused with EA’s Stockholm studio of the same name. God of War: Ragnarok leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed by Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring with eight and seven nominations respectively....

After Godzilla (known as Gojira in his native Japan) had starred in two enormously successful movies — 1954’s original Gojira (released in the U.S. two years later as Godzilla, King of the Monsters!) and 1955’s Godzilla Raids Again — Toho Studios was interested in producing more giant monster movies based around new creatures. Google is reportedly developing its own Android subscription service for games to compete with Apple’s recently announced Apple Arcade. The Netflix-like subscription service goes by the name of Play Pass and will grant access to a variety of games for the low price of $4.99 a month, following a 10-day free trial. Like Apple Arcade, Play Pass promises games with no microtransactions or ads, with all purchase-locked content available from the start....

Guerrilla Games has announced Horizon: Zero Dawn, a new third-person action-RPG heading to PS4. A first look at gameplay was revealed during Sony’s E3 press conference earlier this evening, and sees players hunting robotic dinosaurs in what appears to be an open-world environment. The game is due for release in 2016, with further details yet to be announced.

Halo: Reach has done it again. First, we brought you the news that Bungie’s final entry in the series had broken Halo 3’s concurrent users on Xbox Live record. Now comes the announcement that Halo: Reach is the “biggest entertainment launch of 2010,” meaning it has generated more revenue than any of the top tier movie releases from this year. It’s been a long wait, but a new Halo game is finally out and our minds are made up. Halo Infinite is a fresh take on developer 343 Industries’ trilogy and a decent shooter within certain contexts. But this review will show that the multiplayer is far from what we expected to get after six years of development time and, frankly, a lot of upselling. Before we get into the Moa meat of the review, I feel it’s important to establish my past experiences with the Halo franchise....

It has been nearly five months since Halo Infinite went live with its free-to-play multiplayer component. However, in that stretch of time, the game hasn’t received major updates like new maps. While more cosmetics have been added, and fan-favorite modes have made a comeback, the community desires something more substantial. Developer 343 Industries’ Brian Jarrard took to Reddit recently to address the Halo Infinite community, saying the team understands that folks are frustrated waiting for more major updates for the game....

Showtime’s Halo has entered production and announced that the main cast has been assembled for the adaptation (via DualShockers). In 2018, Showtime revealed that it was working on an adaptation of the franchise that would ‘enthrall fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.’ Showtime president and CEO David Nevins added that Halo would be its ‘most ambitious series ever’, telling the story of ‘an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant....

Being a geek can mean a lot of things. For our Cleveland-based editor Alec Bojalad, being a geek means supporting an apocalyptically awful Cleveland Browns football team through decades of misery. The Browns are now the subject of HBO’s football docuseries Hard Knocks and Alec has some thoughts. Legend has it that HBO has always wanted to get the Cleveland Browns on Hard Knocks. Hasan Piker, a popular Twitch streamer and political commentator for The Young Turks, has been accused of exploiting a video editor for free content. An angry user on Reddit took up arms by creating a long-winded account, describing how Hasan allegedly exploited them for free work. Essentially, the editor was under the impression that Hasan was looking for a full-time video editor for his YouTube channel. The editor created a few videos for Hasan, which he approved of and used for his channel....

Good news has come to light for all the fans of the Heavenly Delusion manga by Masakazu Ishiguro. The series is set to be getting its own anime from studio Production I.G which is famous for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Psycho-Pass (including the upcoming Psycho-Pass: Providence film). The Heavenly Delusion website summarizes the manga’s story as: As of right now, all we know about a premiere date is a very vague 2023....

Hitman and its hero have come a long, long way. Born eighteen years ago, the original Hitman: Codename 47 was – like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid – a pioneer of the stealth action genre, but where Metal Gear Solid went for sneaking and shooting and Splinter Cell for acrobatics and hand-to-hand combat, Hitman took a different path. The point of Hitman wasn’t to infiltrate sci-fi bases and rely on gadgets, but to work your way through more open, real-world scenarios, using your own wits and whatever tools you could get your hands on to reach and kill your target....

Amid reports that more than six million people tuned in across platforms including Twitch, YouTube and Twitter, Epic Games’ Fortnite’s “The End” event caused Twitch to crash and made it impossible for people to log into the game. In the moments leading up to the event launch at 2 p.m. EDT on Sun., Oct. 13, people began reporting issues logging into Fortnite as well as trouble connecting to Twitch. Those who could connect to the event saw their Fortnite characters float over the map, watching from a distance while a black hole sucked in the island....

Fortnite’s revenue has been slowly but surely decreasing despite its incredible popularity, and player spending has fallen by 52 per cent from Q2 2018 to Q2 2019, as reported by data analyst Edison Tech. Fortnite has had multitudes of crossover events that came with exclusive cosmetics and items, including Batman, Borderlands, Stranger Things, and Avengers. Edison Tech claims that in-game purchases increased on an average of 110 per cent per month from November 2017 through May 2018, with a sudden spike in December 2018, but now Fortnite’s finery and its battle pass seem to no longer be à la mode....

Dambuster Studios hopes to fix a game-breaking bug introduced to the PS4 version of Homefront: The Revolution “within the next week”, the developer has said. The bug, which was introduced in the latest 1.03 title update, is reported to impact Hearts & Minds progress and remove all icons from the map, making it impossible to progress. Earlier this week, the developer asked fans to submit their PS4 profiles and save files to help them get to the bottom of the issue....
