One of the longest-running video game award shows is the Golden Joystick Awards. Gamers all around the world vote on the Golden Joystick award winners, and with the latest event having just recently taken place on November 16, we now know what the gaming public has selected as the absolute best games of 2019. As always, the Golden Joystick Awards recognize games in a variety of categories. A number of different games won awards this year, though there were two titles that won multiple awards....

Google has announced that it will be winding down its in-house Stadia Games & Entertainment (SG&E) development teams as part of a refocusing of the service to offer up the web giant’s gaming streaming tech to third parties. In a blog post by Vice President & GM Phil Harrison, the company confirmed it would be closing its studios in Montreal and Los Angeles, saying “Creating best-in-class games from the ground up takes many years and significant investment, and the cost is going up exponentially....

Some ideas aren’t tried often simply because, in the wrong hands, they won’t work at all. “Controlling three characters simultaneously with identical button presses in real-time” is one such idea. To be frank, as an idea, it’s interesting, but kind of terrible. Somehow, Navegante Entertainment has made it work in Greak: Memories of Azur, a game with three distinct characters that must travel and fight together. I won’t say that the execution isn’t without its frustrations or that the game succeeds at everything it tries, but it’s a highly compelling, drop-dead gorgeous game with a lot to offer in the six or so hours it takes to beat....

Grounded is a nightmare for people with Entomophobia or more commonly the fear of insects. While it is a survival game, Grounded will definitely remind you of the old movie ‘Honey! I Shrunk The Kids.’ As the protagonist who has shrunk to the size of an ant, you will have to survive the backyard you are in. While being surrounded by insects, you will have to determine the useful ones and stay away from the predators....

Daybreak Games’ H1Z1 has rolled out of Early Access and into a full-blown release on PC via Steam today. Having been in Early Access for around two years, the battle royale title has emerged with a brand new game mode titled Auto Royale, which complements the action with ‘high-octane vehicular mayhem.’ Plucking inspiration from H1Z1’s adrenaline-fuelled vehicle-based action, Auto Royale sees up to 30 teams of four slugging it out to be the last vehicle standing....

The Halo Twitter account released a teaser video this morning with an ominous message related to the Infinite story. The video is actually more of a visual audio clip, but the message is still plenty to get excited over. Halo 5 is coming to Minecraft: Xbox Edition this, introducing Master Chief along with Blue Team and Fireteam Osiri. The new characters are a free update to Minecraft: Halo Edition mash-up pack, available to purchase for £3.19. Halo Infinite is set to be one of 2020’s biggest game releases, as the new Halo game’s release is said to coincide with the launch of Microsoft’s new console, the Xbox Series X. It’s already apparent just how much Microsoft is excited about the game, and proof of that is self-evident at this weekend’s New York Toy Fair. A range of Halo Infinite toys, action figures, and merchandise is being shown for the first time, and some of it even offers hints at what Halo fans can expect from Halo Infinite....

CD Projekt’s long-promised next-gen update for The Witcher 3 is almost upon us, and ahead of its PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC arrival on 14th December, the studio has shared a first look at the various enhancements it’ll bring. As far as technical improvements go, CD Projekt positively whistled through them during its first-look livestream, but PC players can expect to see support for the likes of raytracing, DLSS, and FSR, alongside a selection of new Ultra Plus graphics options, boosting background characters, level of detail, and more....

Hitman 3‘s first batch of Year 2 content was fully revealed during a short stream, and it releases on January 20. In the stream, Clemens Koch, IO Interactive’s Community Manager, as well as other developers, shared some more details regarding the Elusive Target Arcade mode, VR, and technical improvements coming to Hitman 3. In a year that’s jam-packed with releases, Hitman 3 seems to be bringing its fair share to the table....

IO Interactive has created a strong gameplay foundation between Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2, which feature some of the most creative and entertaining levels in the Hitman franchise. With the direction that IO is taking the narrative, there is a great avenue to make the next Hitman game feature co-op gameplay - and it definitely should....

Fortnite stars Ninja and Dakotaz got into a bit of a scuffle this week, their fangs showing towards one another on Twitter. The back-and-forth can be traced back to a tweet made by Dakotaz, calling Fortnite “hot garbage.” Ninja decided to reply by suggesting he simply play another game – but that’s not where it ended. The blue-haired streamer then elaborated on his disapproval of Dakotaz comments by venting to DrLupo while streaming on Mixer....

Raven Darkholme, better known as Mystique, is one of the two villains that feature in the Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 4 Battle Pass. Mystique’s challenges are more focused on dealing damage to, and eliminating enemy players. This contrasts the other villain, Doctor Doom, who’s challenges mostly required you to visit areas of the map. The Fortnite Mystique challenges will unlock various cosmetics, while allowing her to regain her powers. To begin the Mystique challenges, equip the skin from your locker and queue into a match....

Player House is a kind of safe house in Forza Horizon 5. They are locked behind expeditions in the game. You can find expeditions at Horizon Outpost. Look for an H ticket, or check for Tulum Expedition or Baja Expeditions at the outpost. Unlocking Player House will also unlock a Fast Travel Point in Forza Horizon 5. Creative director behind 2016’s stylish action offering Furi, Emeric Thoa, has told DualShockers that developer The Game Bakers would ‘love’ to bring the game to Nintendo Switch. When asked about bringing the multi-platform title to the handheld hybrid, Thoa said ‘we would love to make that happen,’ but added that The Game Bakers ‘would need to secure a good enough frame rate first.’ With the Japanese company’s push to bring indies to the Switch with its Nindies initiative, it wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility to see the fast-paced, neon-coloured affair appear on the console....
