Remakes and remasters aren’t just a modern-day phenom. Back in 2008 Rare was working on a remake of its classic N64 shooter GoldenEye 007 for Xbox Live Arcade. Sadly the project got cancelled because Microsoft and Nintendo couldn’t negotiate a deal to see the seminal shooter appear on Microsoft hardware – even though development was said to be quite advanced. Now, years after the game’s cancellation, Rare Thief has published 30 minutes of gameplay from GoldenEye 007 Xbox Live Arcade, giving us all a reason to be sad this morning....

Today HoYoverse finally announced the release date of Genshin Impact’s update 2.7, titled “Hidden Dreams in the Depths.” The update, which had been previously delayed, will bring two new characters, Yelan and Kuki Shinobu. Activision has announced Geometry Wars 3: Dimension Evolved, a major free title update for last year’s arcade shooter that almost doubles the amount of content available in the game. Due to roll out later this month, the update introduces 40 new stages to the game’s Adventure Mode, including new boss battles, 3D grid shapes, gameplay types, a new Sweeper drone and a Detonator super ability, along with a new Hardcore mode that lets players tackle 20 dedicated levels without using a drone or super....

The remaster of GoldenEye 007 is, apparently, in a kind of limbo, because of the way in Ukraine. The project is barely a secret, and achievements keep popping up for it on Xbox. Now, Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb has said, on Twitter, “Goldeneye is still in limbo because of the war.” Eurogamer has also claimed that this is accurate. The GoldenEye remaster has been around for a few years. Microsoft wanted a similar result to the Xbox Live Arcade remasters of Perfect Dark, and progress went ahead....

Rockstar Games has announced that the new-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA: Online have been delayed into March of next year. A statement on the Rockstar Newswire broke the news following a new trailer shown during the PlayStation Showcase. “While we are extremely excited to be bringing GTAV to the latest generation of consoles, the game requires a few additional months for polishing and fine-tuning. Yesterday, a mysterious stream on the official Pokémon YouTube channel appeared, titled “????”. With a Gengar on the thumbnail and the release of Scarlet and Violet less than a month away, fans speculated we would see a Ghost-type Pokémon. They weren’t wrong. In fact, multiple Ghost-types were shown, including a new species! The new trailer is shot from the perspective of a trainer at the Naranja Academy (the school featured in Scarlet), who is looking for Ghost-types....

Following in the success of The Beatles: Rock Band, Harmonix is now planning to release a standalone Green Day: Rock Band game, which will feature the likenesses of Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, and will contain venues specific to the band’s history. Green Day made this announcement themselves at Spike’s Video Game Awards show which you can see below.
