Gears 5 multiplayer modes will be supported in live-service-style quarterly updates called Operations, as revealed in a blog post by Microsoft. Operations will occur every three months, and include new characters, modes, maps, features, and game balance tweaks, expectedly. Each new Operation will introduce a new Tour of Duty, which are campaigns that stretch the season with new unlockable cosmetics on offer. Three daily objectives and seasonal medals give players Stars to improve their Rank, and the rewards are unique to that season’s Tour of Duty....

It’s that time of year again. GOG has kicked off its summer sale event, and as usual, the company is giving away a free game. This year’s giveaway is Obduction, the first-person adventure game from Cyan Worlds. For those unfamiliar, Cyan is the company responsible for the classics Myst and Riven. Patch 1.06 is out now for Gran Turismo 7. The “main features implemented” include Race Display, which now boasts added wind direction and wind speed indicators, and Music Replay, which adds 64 new music tracks. Polyphony Digital has also addressed several progression issues, including “a very rare issue wherein progress made on a Menu Book would not be recognised and prevented players to continue their playthrough”, and another wherein an application error would occur when using the broadcast features of the PS4....

UPDATE 29/11/22: Grand Theft Auto’s original programmer Mike Dailly has added some clarification to Colin Macdonald’s story about GTA starting out as a “dinosaur game”. Dailly replied to this news on Twitter, saying “the game was called ‘dino’, because the early C code framework came from a dinosaur game - several Dave-demos earlier.” Dailly went on to “[copy] code and [keep] the useful bits.” Macdonald replied to Dailly’s update by saying “Ah bugger, I was sure of that - ah well, it’s a nice story, but at least I know now!...

Grand Theft Auto 5’s Rockstar Editor will be available when the PC version launches tomorrow, Rockstar Games has announced. The editor allows players to record, edit and share videos created from Story Mode and GTA Online. Rockstar Editor features special camera modes, filters, depth of field and audio customization options. Most exciting of all is a Director Mode which gives users the ability to stage movie-making sequences from a cast of characters ranging from Story Mode’s familiar faces, to pedestrians and even animals....

A host of new activities have been added to GTA Online today, as part of the Los Santos Summer Special. This update focuses primarily on vehicles, adding 15 new cars to GTA Online. There are some new races to compete in too, including seven new open-wheel racing events. Outside of the numerous vehicle additions, Rockstar has added eight new casino modes with the Los Santos Summer Special update. The 15 new cars are available across multiple different garages....

After an extended dry spell of virtually no Guild Wars 2 news, the past few weeks have been extremely fruitful. Back at the end of January, ArenaNet revealed the fifth profession for Guild Wars 2, the Guardian.
