Game director Cory Barlog has experienced enormous success with the most recent edition of God of War. The game has been ranked as one of the top third-person games of all time and has won numerous awards including the 2018 Game of the Year Award. The PlayStation 4 game launched on April 20th, 2018 and maintains a high MetaCritic rating two years late. In a recent interview with PlayStation Access, Barlog reveals that the reason for the game’s success is due to it being done “The Sony way....

The Game Awards 2019 certainly had a few surprises up its sleeve in terms of game reveals. Not only was the Xbox Series X unveiled in an unexpected trailer but we also got a look at the first confirmed PlayStation 5 game. That title was Godfall, “a fantasy action RPG that utilizes high-impact third-person melee combat to engage players as they hunt for loot, don legendary armor sets, and defeat vicious enemies,” according to Gearbox Publishing....

It looks like Google can’t wait for E3, as it’s decided to hold a big Google Stadia Connect event later this week promising details on games, pricing and more for its new streaming console/service. The tech giant made the announcement via Twitter, promising that the event will include launch information, game announcements and a price reveal for the service. It’ll take place on Thursday, June 6 at 5pm UK time and will be broadcast on, naturally, Google’s own YouTube....

E3 2011 has been over for a week now, and gamers have had plenty of time to come to grips with the announcements made at the show. Battlefield 1’s In the Name of the Tsar expansion can now be snapped up without spending a penny. In the Name of the Tsar is one of the meatier add-ons for the acclaimed World War One shooter, and includes the Russian army as a playable force. Proper weather implementation is something of a holy grail for racing games - it’s why the feature bounces in and out of various series in the genre, why it’s entirely absent in most and why we’ve been waiting for almost 14 years for it to make its debut in iRacing (can we really honestly get it this year please?) It’s no secret that Grand Theft Auto 5 has made an absurd amount of money for Rockstar Games: the game is the most profitable entertainment product of all time, and that’s do in no small part to Grand Theft Auto Online. ArenaNet has released a teaser trailer for Guild Wars 2’s upcoming piece of Living World content, Visions of the Past: Steel and Fire. We were told that this new type of Living World content would be launching in the early parts of 2020. This trailer dropping at the same time as PAX East tells us the arrival of the first Visions of the Past story is imminent. Visions of the Past will differ from previous Guild Wars 2 content by letting the player take on the role of a character other than the Pact Commander (the game’s main protagonist)....

Halo Infinite’s player count has dropped below that of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the first time on Steam. The franchise’s latest title, which was released late last year, has steadily shed its player base as it became frustrated with the lack of content updates in addition to ongoing issues surrounding the game’s monetisation. As it currently stands, The Master Chief Collection had a peak player count of 9123 over the past 24 hours, in contrast to the 7842 players on Halo Infinite....

When Weird West came out, I was very confused. While “Wild West But Spooky” isn’t a new genre, the game looked very similar to 2015’s Hard West. The biggest difference was that it didn’t care much for turn-based combat. I guess this stirred the fans of turn-based tactics, because I had a preview copy of Hard West 2 land in my lap not long after. As far as I understand, Hard West 2 isn’t a continuation of the old one — it just exists in the same setting....

No Man’s Sky is one of 2015’s most anticipated games, and 18 minutes of gameplay has been posted to YouTube to give fans a brief glimpse of what they’ll be exploring when the game launches. IGN has posted the walkthrough with Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who explains more intricate elements of gameplay and what players will be doing once they land on a planet. Epic has revealed when Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 2 will start, and the reason why Season 1 has been longer than any other season before it. In 2019, Epic shook up Fortnite unlike anything players will have experienced before. It ushered in Chapter 2 of the popular battle royale game, and introduced a whole new island to its players. Over four months after publisher Bandai Namco pulled online PvP support for the Dark Souls series on PC following the discovery of a serious security vulnerability, FromSoftware has said it’s “currently in the process of restoring” the games’ online servers. PvP servers for Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3 were “temporarily deactivated” back in January after reports the games were vulnerable to Remote Code Execution exploits began to make headlines....

Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster company Frontier Developments has snapped up Complex Games, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters. It’s the first time the British-based Frontier has acquired a development studio, albeit one which the company has worked with in the past. The well-received Daemonhunters arrived in May this year as part of Frontier’s own third-party games label. Frontier has paid £8.3m upfront, with a further £3.3m due over the next year if milestones are met....

When it comes to Metroid Prime, the eyes of the gaming world are firmly fixed on the mysterious new installment. Way back in June last year, it was confirmed that a fourth installment was in the works. Over a year later, that scant teaser is still all we really have to go on, besides the fact that Bandai Namco are taking the reigns for the new game. In the interim, though, something interesting was recently discovered in the original Metroid Prime....

GAME.co.uk has said it has sold out of its initial allocation of Nintendo Switch launch stock for the Red/Blue edition of the console. A note on the product page reads: “We have reached our initial allocation of this product, but we are working with Nintendo to bring in more stock for launch day. Pre-order now to ensure you’ll get your Nintendo Switch as soon as it becomes available.” Meanwhile the Grey system features the same, somewhat worrying, message it has had since launch: “At this time we have not received official confirmation of stock allocation....
