Reddit user The_Winkles has just shared a League of Legends glitch to the primary League subreddit that will delight many, and quite possibly turn out to be just what a certain niche subset of fans of the game have been looking for. The glitch in question freezes humanoid Void champion Kai’Sa and sporadically sinks her character model into the ground. Those select few who have been pushing for more half-submerged heroes now have Reddit to thank.
The post sharing the glitch is titled “New Champion Leak: Rek’Kai’Sa,” drawing attention to the animation’s resemblance to hero Rek’Sai’s “Burrow” ability. As its name suggests, the ability allows Rek’Sai to burrow into the ground, which changes some of her other abilities into altogether new burrowed abilities. Additionally, the similarities in each character’s name is due to their sharing a region of origin—names with apostrophes in the middle are characteristic of heroes who come from the simply-named Void. Part of the humor in the comparison is due to the humanoid Void hero Kai’Sa moving in such a way that she resembles the distinctly inhuman Void hero Rek’Sai.
In a comment later shared to the Reddit thread, The_Winkles stated that the glitch almost lost their team the match, given that their teammates instantly and understandably became more fixated on the hilarity of the glitch than winning, and that The_Winkles began making inadvisable plays in service of getting the most out of the glitched state for as long as it was happening.
Other comments shared to the Reddit thread outline additional glitches that seem to happen to Kai’Sa, further comparisons between Kai’Sa and Rek’sai, and a Shrek joke, because of course. The_Winkles also provides some additional information as to how the glitch functioned, clarifying that all players in-game could see the glitched character model, and that neither the effects of enemy champions’ abilities nor dying ended the glitched state.
Just what triggers the glitch in the first place, however, is unclear and has yet to be clarified by The_Winkles. Anyone looking to replicate the glitched state will have to spend their fare share of time experimenting on the off chance of getting a glimpse of the fabled Rek’Kai’Sa for themselves.
