Activision’s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock sits above Black Ops as the highest grossing game in US history.
Since its release in 2007 the music rhythm game has grossed $830.9 million. It’s an impressive figure, but one which might be toppled by Call of Duty: Black Ops. The biggest FPS of last year currently sits at $787.4 million, which isn’t bad considering it only hit stores in November 2010.
Of the top 10 titles, five are published by Activision, four are from Nintendo and one from MTV Games. Six of the games shipped with or use a peripheral.
