Goat of Duty is coming to fulfill all your wildest goat-based multiplayer shooter dreams.
Remember Goat Simulator? That game where you’d run around as a goat and run into things? And occasionally explode? Well, there’s a new goat-based game in town, and it’s got a little bit more structure than Goat Simulator ever did. It’s also not made by the same people, although we get where there might be some confusion on that point.
From 34BigThings, an indie studio based in Italy, and publisher Raiser Games comes Goat of Duty, a multiplayer shooter where everyone is a goat.
You might be wondering why everyone is a goat. Well, prepare to be disappointed. “There’s no lore here,” writes Raiser Games. “You are a goat. You’re armed to the teeth (well, the horns). There are other goats out there who want to kill you. It’s as simple as that. Now go out there and show ‘em what you’ve goat.”
Based on the screenshots and marketing material, it seems like every player is a goat strapped with some sort of robotic arm that wields whatever gun you happen to be armed with. The camera is located on this arm, so you’ll still be able to see your goat head while you blast other goats.
Goat of Duty is basically like an old-school multiplayer shooter. Games are between 2-10 players with the last goat standing as the winner. There are a few other game modes, including team deathmatch, as well as several different maps including a futuristic city, a desert, a space station, and a distant alien planet.
You can climb anything and jump particularly high (since you’re a goat), but otherwise, that’s it. There are no fancy abilities or skills to learn. This is Quake-style multiplayer combat, but with goats.
Goat of Duty is currently hosting a closed beta from May 9th to 13th. If you want in, just join the Goat of Duty Discord server and ask for a key. The game will eventually release on Steam, but we don’t have a date just yet, so this beta is your best bet for some goat-on-goat action.
