The new decade is finally upon us, and in a pleasant twist, there has been surprisingly little talk of the apocalypse this time around. There’s no better time for those looking to bring a supernatural apocalypse to their consoles though, as Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is currently on sale at GameStop.
Easily one of the most successful spin-offs of the classic film to date, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is almost identical to the original game, which was released in 2009. A decade of improvements to its graphics have accompanied its return and exclusivity to newer consoles, alongside exclusive physical retail at GameStop, which may inconvenience some players.
Any inconvenience will no doubt be lessened by the current deals for the game, which see its price cut for copies for most consoles. The game is currently available for $17.00 rather than the usual $24.99 for PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. The only system for the game not currently giving a discount is the PC version, and digital copies are Epic exclusive anyway.
The game is only on sale for today as part of GameStop’s Daily Deal, so anyone who wants to pick it up had better order a copy or walk to their nearest store quickly.

This may be the last chance that Ghostbusters fans have to get their hands on some quality Ghostbusters media for a while, with the new film Ghostbusters: Afterlife not releasing until July. Even then, the most recent film left such a bad taste in viewer’s mouths, so many may be hesitant to trust the new movie. Even with how promising the trailer and the new angle the film is taking are, there’s no guarantee the film won’t turn out to be another in a long line of disappointments in the Ghostbusters franchise.
Thankfully that list does not include the original Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and it’s safe to say it does not include the game’s remaster either. Despite 2016’s Ghostbusters game from Activision being a disappoinment, Ghostbusters: The Video Game earned praise across the board when it was released, and it still stands as the best Ghostbusters game today according to many. This is the perfect opportunity to grab it if for fans of the film, or if anyone is just looking for a fun, cartoony third-person shooter.
