A free-to-play edition of Forza Motorsport 6, titled Apex, will launch for Windows 10 this spring, a Seattle Times report ahead of today’s embargo for a range of Xbox info, has revealed.
The article has since been removed, but a cached version remains for all to see.
Apex is described as a slimmed down version of the Xbox One launch title, though PC gamers will expect to be able to crank up the visuals if their systems can support it.
This will be the first time a game in Turn10’s long-running Forza franchise will be made available to gamers outside of the Xbox console platform.
With Forza, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and the recently announced Quantum Break, Microsoft is aiming to make Windows 10 the go-to service for gaming.
“We are 100 percent committed to the PC-gaming space,” said Xbox boss Phil Spencer. “That is a long-term commitment from us.”
Look out for more info from the Microsoft event later today.
