Fortnite has still yet to release the patch notes for the upcoming holiday event, but dataminers HYPEX and xKleinMikex have still unveiled several new images for the event. Last year Fortnite had a full 14 Day event set with a long list of challenges, map changes, and surprises that was renewed in the new year. However, the details of this year’s even have been kept under lock and key, until now.
Dataminers HYPEX and xKleinMikex, known for leaking major reveals in Fortnite, have been searching for weeks for the latest news and have recently uncovered a new snow map. The previous map had just one section dedicated to the frozen biome, this new map appears to be totally covered. Fans of Fortnite haven’t seen the map completely covered in snow since the beginning of Chapter 2, but the deep freeze is well on its way.
Things will start heating up once the Winter Royale is underway and $15 million is up for grabs. HYPEX has also unveiled some of the WinterFest challenges, including hiding inside a “sneaky snowman” and dancing at “Holiday trees” around the map. It also appears that presents are coming back to the game as they did in previous seasons where presents were like mini loot boxes that players could open or share with their teammates.
A few building designs have also been leaked, revealing that there will be an Ice Hotel which very well may be the “WinterFest Cabin” seen on the challenges list. Other buildings that have been revealed are a toy factory, an old Crackshot house, and a ski building. Among the holiday-themed skins and emotes (many are reindeer themed), HYPEX is also uncovering several details about the Star Wars event just in time for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
In just a few days on December 14th, 2019, Fortnite will be teaming up with Disney to unveil a brand new scene from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Players will need to log in around 10:30 am PT, and head over to Risky Reels for the exclusive Epic Star Wars content. At the time of this article, it is still unclear when the Fortnite Winter patch will go into effect, but players can still count on enjoying the upcoming Star Wars event this Saturday.
Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
