Lightsabers have landed on Fortnite Island and if you ask pretty much any player who has wielded one up until this point, they’ll tell you they’re the best thing ever.
A scene from the upcoming blockbuster Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker premiered at Fortnite’s Risky Reels. As exciting and innovative as that was, it turns out the screening was just the beginning of even more Star Wars content coming to Fortnite. More skins have been added, Star Wars-themed challenges have arrived, and that’s not even the best part.
The best part of the Star Wars crossover is the addition of lightsabers, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The iconic science-fiction weapon has been added to multiple in-game modes and everyone is already obsessed with them – so much so that players have been mutually agreeing to shed everything in their loadouts aside from their lightsabers and go at it one-on-one like true Jedis, as you can see in the epic confrontation below.
There has also been a case of one player with a lightsaber taking down an entire squad all by themself. It’s pretty awesome, and we would highly recommend watching it below. As for the sabers, they’re available for a week and in four different colors – green, blue, purple, and red. If you land yourself a red one at any point, you had better be ready to channel your inner Darth Vader and do the Dark Side proud.
Players with a lightsaber in hand can do a lot more than just swing it around and battle others with the same weapon. Just like lightsabers in the Star Wars games and movies, players wielding them can also use them to block weapon fire. Players are also able to perform a neat little ninja roll while holding the weapon, which comes in handy.
