Starting with a Ninja skin, Epic has now added a Pokimane emote to Fortnite, as the streamers who play the game continue to become a part of it.
Epic recently went through a phase of people suing the Fortnite creators for allegedly stealing ideas. Various people claimed that dance moves they created were being used in the game as emotes without their permission. That group of people included Alfonso Ribeiro (aka Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) and also someone who actually had given permission for their dance to be used as a Fortnite emote.
Even though none of those court cases appear to have really gone anywhere, Epic now seems to be treading a lot more carefully with Fortnite. That was demonstrated last week when popular streamer Ninja revealed he was having a skin of himself added to the game. If you want to rock a Ninja skin but haven’t bought it yet, we’re sorry to inform you that you’ve now missed the boat.
That’s because Epic is now spotlighting its next streamer: Pokimane. Pokimane hasn’t received her own Fortnite skin like Ninja, but instead, a dance of hers has been added to the game as an emote. “Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I officially have my own @fortnitegame Emote!,” Pokimane revealed on Twitter.
The dance used is slightly more elaborate than your regular Fortnite emote, and was created and posted on TikTok by Pokimane. The emote is available now but if you want it, don’t hang around. Like the Ninja skin, it won’t be around forever and will likely be replaced by an ode to another streamer later this week.
Famous streamers aren’t the only ones being given an opportunity to immortalize themselves in Fortnite. Epic has partnered up with TikTok to run a competition with which players can submit dances of their very own. The winner will have their dance moves turned into a Fortnite emote. To enter your dance, use the hashtag #EmoteRoyaleContest when posting your video on TikTok.
