Battle royale shooter Fortnite got its biggest overhaul yet over the weekend with the launch of Chapter 3 Season 1.

Following the recent The End event on Saturday, the entire island has been ‘flipped’ to reveal a whole new arena. More than just a cosmetic change, this has seem the shooter move to Unreal Engine 5. As a result, there’s now new gameplay mechanics such as weather effects, trees as physical objects when cut down and more.

The new map includes plenty of new points of interest; including Greasy Grove, Logjam Lumberyard and more. There’s also a new Chonker’s Speedway for those who want to go racing. Some locales are even covered in snow which melts to reveal new areas on the map. You may also recognise a certain Daily Bugle, the workplace of Peter Parker AKA Spiderman. He’s in Fortnite Chapter 3’s Battle Pass, you see, alongside a bunch of other new characters. One of these characters arrives later this season named The Foundation, portrayed by movie star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Sliding is a brand new way to get around now, and swinging will also arrive with Spider-Man’s webshooters from December 11. A new camping mechanic also allows you to put down a Tent for you and your squad to rest up and recover. You can even stash items between matches through them.

There’s far too much to list in a simple news piece, so you can check out the full list of additions here. Alternatively, you can also check out the trailers for the new update below. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1: Flipped is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
